Doing something bigger than you

I'm a choir geek. I admit it. It's not just about singing, but the group dynamic as well: the undeniable sensation that you're collaborating with others to create something much bigger (even if ephemeral) than you are.

The most recent Virtual Choir 3 strikes that chord (ahem) in me, with shivers up and down my spine:

I think this is one of the keys to "success", whether professional success, business success, personal success. That you have to feel like you're contributing directly to something that's bigger than just you. That will have some kind of meaningful impact, however much unmeasurable, on another human being. If we brought this to our work, I think we would be not just more productive but happier as well.
